In cooperation with the Institute of Laser and Information Technologies, St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and “Aviadvigatel” OJSC, VIAM will develop additive technologies for manufacture and repair of GTE components.
It became possible thanks to wining a competition carried out within the Federal target program «Researches and development in the priority directions of development of the Russian scientific and technology complex within 2014-2020».
Academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM, has noted that «implementation of this project will allow to carry out transition from conventional technologies of manufacturing and repair of intricate-shaped components of gas turbine engines to technologies of new generation».
At present, the additive technologies are one of the most dynamically developing and promising production processes in aviation engineering. The main advantages of transition from conventional technologies casting of parts to the additive production consist in implementation of essentially new approaches to design of products allowing to manufacture intricate-shaped components, low-weight structures from metals and polymer materials within one technological process. Moreover, the additive technologies allow to increase labor productivity 20-30 times and to rise material utilization factor from 0.3 up to 1.0.
