On the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) held a series of events dedicated to this significant event.
On May 8, 2015, the solemn ceremony was held at the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Not only management and employees of VIAM, but also the war and labor veterans, Nikolai Gonchar, deputy of the State Duma, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets, secretary of the Moscow City regional branch of "UNITED RUSSIA" and Victor M. Chuyko, president of the Association "Union of Aero Engines" have attended the event.
Nikolai Gonchar congratulated the staff of the institute with the "most important holiday of our country" and noted that VIAM is his home organization.
Victor Chuiko congratulated the management and staff of the Institute on the Victory Day. According to the guest, VIAM has been making an invaluable contribution to our country's defense during all its history. "Your development saved thousands of Soviet pilots during the World War II and now is in a good demand", - he said.
Candidate of Science (History) Captain First Rank Vladimir D. Ovchinnikov, senior researcher of the Research Institute for Military History under the Academy of the General Staff told certain forces to rewrite history, to denigrate the great victory of our country and our people in the terrible war.
After that the floor was given to Konstantin K. Yasinsky, the veteran of the World War II and leading researcher of VIAM and to engineer Nikolai I. Nephyodov, representative of the Council of young scientists and specialists of VIAM.
In his speech, Academician Evgeny Kablov, Director General of VIAM, thanked the veterans who defended our Homeland from the Nazis, and expressed gratitude to the staff of the Institute for the fact that "they hold sacred traditions, honor the memory of those who defended our Motherland and who forged the weapon of victory".
Evgeny Kablov also raised the issue of falsification of history of the Great Patriotic War. "There are many active attempts to present the Soviet Union as an aggressor, to equate the leaders of the Soviet state and Germany. The worst thing is that these attempts are made not only by foreign media, but also by domestic pseudo-historians who do not respect the memory and traditions of their Motherland", - said the head of VIAM. We must not allow even the slightest attempt to steal our victory in that terrible war", - he pointed out.
After the solemn meeting, the participants laid flowers at the monument to VIAM employees who fell in battles in World War II.
The celebration was continued with a festive concert performed by the Orchestra of Russian Interior Ministry troops under the leadership of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Colonel Igor Yu. Lewandowski.
At the same day the employees of took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexandrovsky Garden and at the monument to Marshal Georgy Zhukov on the Manege Square.
It should be noted than on the eve of the great holiday, on April 25, 2015, the initiative group of VIAM employees made the Saturday community service to improve the appearance of the monument to the 7th division soldiers of the people's emergency volunteer corps of the Bauman district of Moscow. The VIAM employees observed a minute of silence in memory of soldiers of the 7thDivision. They laid a wreath, flowers and lighted candles at the memorial.
Moreover, the drawing competition "The Victory in eyes of children" was held at VIAM in April. 5-12 years old children and grandchildren of the employees of VIAM took part in the competition.
A photo exhibition "Roads of the war years" presenting interesting front photos, as well as photos from family archives of employees of the Institute was organized at VIAM prior to the Victory Day.
In addition, employees of some laboratories have prepared special-purposed issues of wall newspapers devoted to the anniversary date.
